Windows File History is still the easiest, cheapest (free) continuous data protection software for Windows. The Add folder function has been removed, but it will back up Libraries you create yourself.
My other concern is backing it up. I like the idea of using a VM because then it's easy to snapshot the VM and you have the entire file corpus as one giant blob that backup software slurps quickly.
